Made different.co

Usability Testing

Assignment Brief

In this assignment, I had to create a usability evaluation plan to figure out key usability issues on the madedifferent.co website.

Key User Processes

Firstly, I went through the madedifferent.co website and identified the key user processes and picked 4 that I felt were the most important ones. I also justified why I chose those 4 processes which are, logging into the website, Using the category function, finding jewelry size and checking out the items.

Test Goals & User Profile

I then stated my test goals and also crafted a user profile of the test participants. This is based on the user profile of the general type of users that would use the madedifferent.co website

Test setup & length

I decided to go for the remote moderated usability testing method which will require the test participant to be on a zoom call with me while sharing the screen. I then added the length of test session which is influenced by how long the user should spend on each task and my moderator script

Data collection & Usability Scenarios

I stated what data I would be collecting in the test and also created usability scenarios that linked each test goal and gave a realistic sequence for the test participant to follow. In this case, the scenario is centered on buying a gift, where the user would have to log in, find the right sizing for a bracelet, find a bracelet using the category function and lastly go through the checkout process with the selected bracelet. I also stated the desired answer path for each task

Post Task & Test Questionnaires

Lastly, I crafted questions that will be asked after each task is done as well as after the whole test

Moderator Script

After the test plan, I created a script for the moderator (me). This script will serve as a guide for me while conducting the testing session. I made sure the script asks the participant to think aloud as they go through each task.

Participant Script

This is a script made for the participant to refer to if they feel stuck, in this the participant can see the different test scenarios and what they would have to do.

Pilot Testing

Lastly, I conducted pilot testing using my test plan, moderator script and participant script. I then further refined my test plans and scripts based on the pilot testing to ensure that they are clear enough to be used in the real user testing.
